News - Spring 2017
The 2017 cricket season is not far away, and work will be starting to prepare the clubhouse and ground for the summer months. Our 1st XI captained by Dominic Spencer will be playing in Division 2 of the Morrant Chilterns League, whilst our 2nd XI will play social cricket.
This year our Winter Nets are taking place at the Amersham School, Stanley Hill, Amersham, on Sunday evenings from 5th March until 9th April. Each session will run from 7.30pm to 9pm, and will cost £5 per player. The Winter Nets not only provide opportunity for our existing players to prepare for the season ahead, but are an excellent way of engaging with new players, and anyone wishing to take part should contact Guy Cornelius on 806961.
At the beginning of March we were able to announce the exciting news that we had agreed a partnership with our good friends, Jordans Taverners. Hitherto the Taverners have played their cricket in Seer Green but have now committed to playing at Coleshill for 2017. They play friendly cricket, principally on Sundays, and the intention is that our Ist League XI, 2nd friendly XI & the Taverners will draw on the joint pool of players for support when needed. This arrangement secures the future of Cricket in Coleshill and maximises the use of our lovely ground.
In the middle of March we held our AGM & pre season dinner at the village hall. This was well attended and we welcomed a contingent from Jordans Taverners.
The Annual Cheese & Wine Party for Coleshill Residents and other supporters will be held at the Cricket Club on Sunday 4th June, between 12 noon and 2pm. We hope to welcome as many people as possible to this event, and also hope they will stay on during the afternoon to watch some cricket.
Over the past two seasons, our Colts section has been one of the real successes of the Club, and in 2017 our young cricketers will not only benefit from Sunday morning coaching, but will be playing in competitions organised by the County. If there are boys and girls in the Village, up to the age of 11, who would like to be part of this thriving Colts section, they should contact Guy Cornelius on the number given above.
The Cricket Club looks forward to your continued interest and support during the coming season.
