Coleshill Parish Council is looking for a clerk, working part-time flexible hours.

The Parish Council are looking for a friendly experienced Parish Clerk to join them, with RFO experience, and sound, administrative, communication, organisational and IT skills. As the Council’s Proper Officer, you will be responsible for all aspects of council operations including making sure Council fulfils its legal and statutory obligations, and all matters affecting the proper running of the Council. You will take a leading role on projects, work closely with parish councillors and Bucks Council officers to deliver key priorities and be the main point of contact for local residents and council suppliers.

The role is part-time with work mostly being done from home. You will be expected to attend the nine Council meetings + 2 sub-committee meetings per year, which are in the evening. In addition to attending council meetings, you will also be required to retrieve mail from the Village Hall periodically and occasionally meet and consult with residents within the Parish, so it is necessary for you to be within reasonable travel distance of the village.

 

Salary Scale SCP 15 - SCP17 (£27,803 - £28,770) Pro Rata - dependant on experience.

40 hours per month with some evening work. Home-based.

 

About Coleshill and the Role

Coleshill nestles high in the Chiltern Hills between Amersham and Beaconsfield and traces its roots to the early Roman occupation of Britain. Positioned on a hill, Coleshill is one of the highest villages in the Chilterns with the village centre designated as a conservation area. The village is centred around All Saints' Church, the village common, the village pond, The Red Lion public house, the Village School, and the Village Hall. Village Road and Barracks Hill are the through roads in the village where many historic dwellings still exist. As well as roads, the Parish supports over 15km of extensively used footpaths.

Coleshill is a thriving modern community of approximately 250 households and 650 people. As well as the active church, church choir and primary school, Coleshill supports many active clubs, groups, and societies.

The Parish Council comprises of 7 members, meets monthly (except February, August & November) and has an annual precept of £14.5k.

About You

The role of a parish clerk is very varied so we are looking for someone with excellent communication skills who can manage multiple tasks and priorities and is willing to work flexibly as part of a friendly team of councillors. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate they understand the requirements of the role which includes a level of literacy and numeracy necessary to prepare quality records and reports and maintain a basic set of accounts. Previous experience preferred but full training including CiLCA will be supported and encouraged.
