The Wildlife Explorer Day is designed for families but of course anyone can come. There will be a wide range of nature conservation groups. Each will have a stall with interesting information about wildlife you may see on the Common, ranging from wildflowers to mammals to pollinators, birds and amphibians. There will be lots of fun nature activities for children, and of course there is plenty of space and time to explore the Common and have a picnic. There will be a food stall selling Syrian pastries and the Village Hall toilet facilities will be available.

Coleshill Common is ancient and today covers quite a big area of grassland surrounded by a belt of trees. There is also a small pond out of which flows a small stream. A stream runs down through an area of woods and into a shallow depression where it disappears down a sinkhole. Where this little streams water flows out is a mystery but it does show us that the geology of the area is threaded with aquifers. The Common hosts a variety of wildlife - and like everywhere in the UK and worldwide, that wildlife is under threat. We must do what we can to support it.

The Common is at the southern end of the village at the end of Village Road.

Please join us for the Wildlife Explorer Day on 7 July and have a wonderful time enjoying the event. Learn about the wonderful wildlife that lives on our Common and together let’s care for it and protect it for the future.
